Hi, I’m Patrick Dodson. I am an award-winning photographer whose work has been published internationally, including on the front pages of the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. With over 15 years as a full-time professional photographer, my practice includes personal storytelling and creative marketing, with a focus on small communities and the everyday people that power them.
I am an alumnus of the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop and previously worked as a staff photographer for the Berkshire Eagle, the Daily Gazette of Schenectady, the New Jersey Devils, and Prudential Center. My past freelance clients include the New York Times, Brooklyn Nets, Financial Times, Reuters, and WNYC.
I currently work full-time in digital media marketing and teach as an adjunct lecturer in visual communications, where I focus on narrative, ethics, and the role of imagery in shaping public understanding.
I am an FAA-certified drone pilot and was previously licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician while working on an ambulance.
Outside of my professional work, my photography practice has expanded to include hand-made books and alternative print processes. I am interested in how tangible objects slow down our increasingly fast-paced digital lifestyles. I am an avid reader whose hobbies also include exploring estate sales, hiking the high peaks, and visiting as many analog photobooths as possible.
I am available for freelance and commissioned work in the Capital Region, Hudson Valley, Southern Adirondacks and Berkshires.
